Our June newsletter highlights custom merch we’ve been printing for Pride!

Our clients at ACT UP NY revamped an old classic design, this fem “Read My Lips” T-Shirt with a pink magenta “READ MY LIPS” banner below revised original artwork. Worx is the proud printer of these preshrunk, 100% cotton t-shirts are Made in the USA, fair trade, and eco-friendly!

“Read my lips: no new taxes” was a famous statement made by President George H. W. Bush during his 1988 presidential campaign. His presidency avoided talking about or spending significant tax dollars on AIDS and HIV prevention issues. In April of ’88, as part of ACT NOW National Spring AIDS Actions, ACT UP NY organized a ‘same-sex’ Kiss-In in NYC’s Sheridan Square as a striking challenge to homophobia, a core stigma in the fight against AIDS, and to the media, church, and political elite that prevented the crisis from being brought to the forefront (which could have saved millions of lives).

This photo was part of publicity around the 1988 Spring AIDS Actions, and is available once again on the ACT UP NY webstore.
